“After SAA”—We Invite You to Join the Conversation

UPDATE: The commenting period for the open review has been extended to August 4th.

“After SAA” is now live on the SQ Forum. We invite you to visit, read, and participate in Shakespeare Quarterly’s latest experiment in open peer review, now and until July 27.

“After SAA” consists of thirteen papers on “Shakespeare and Philosophy,” “Shakespeare and Language,” “Shakespeare and Skepticism,” and “Non-Shakespearean Drama and Performance,” originally presented at the 2012 meeting of the Shakespeare Association of America. Join the authors, seminar leaders, senior scholars and critics, and Shakespeare Quarterly readers discussing the essays and the questions they raise about Shakespeare studies today.

To get you started, seminar leaders Jonathan Hope, Sarah Werner and Pascale Aebischer, Paul Kottman, and Joseph Loewenstein have provided introductions to each group of essays, outlining the questions that drove the original meetings in Boston.

Anyone is welcome to visit the site and read the essays during the open-review period. In particular, we invite the authors’ peers—scholars, critics, and graduate students in Shakespeare and early modern studies, performance studies, and the other subjects of these essays—to contribute responses, questions, and feedback. For information on how to use the site and register as a commenter, see How to read these essays and How to comment on these essays.

After the open-review period, the authors will revise their work and submit their essays for possible print publication in Shakespeare Quarterly. If you have questions or need help using the open-review site, please contact us. We look forward to having you be part of this important conversation.
